Powder  coating – customer checklist

At Ossmet, the drop-off and pick-up of powder coating jobs take place Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM.

If you are bringing parts for powder coating, please consider the following important guidelines.

Before powder coating:

  1. Include a delivery note with your shipment that contains all the necessary information for invoice preparation.
  2. Confirm hanging holes with our staff when handing over parts. We recommend adding any technical holes before bringing parts for coating. Suggested hole diameter: 4 mm.

  3. Ensure that parts are delivered dry.

  4. Do not use adhesive tape on surfaces to be painted. Remove any old paint, rust, or other residues that could affect the coating quality.

  5. If the parts have been previously coated, do not clean them with nitro solvent. Only use white spirit (mineral spirits) on such surfaces.

  6. Remove all components from the items that may melt at temperatures up to 200°C.

  7. If parts are covered with vacuum film or similar materials, this will result in coating defects. Because vacuum film is often hard to detect, please remove it in advance or clearly indicate it on the work order. Removal by our staff incurs an additional charge.

  8. Do not use permanent markers on surfaces to be coated. Use an X to mark surfaces that should not be coated.

  9. If you’re submitting screws, bolts, or other small parts, attach them to a metal sheet or heat-resistant material. Do not use Styrofoam or foam for this purpose!

  10. Be aware that different materials may affect coating quality. For example, galvanized parts must not have oxidized layers.

  11. Nanocoated fixtures and other parts cannot be powder coated. Please ensure parts are not covered with nano coatings before bringing them in.

After powder coating:

  • Inspect the coated products on-site for quality assurance.

  • Protect coated parts from mechanical damage during transport.

  • Coated parts may be stored in our reception area for free for 5 business days. After this, a storage fee of 10% per day (based on the total order price) will be applied.

The warranty does not cover:

  • Defects caused by non-compliance with customer checklist items 2–11.

  • Coating defects due to rust stains, leftover paint, or inadequate surface preparation.

  • Mechanical damage to coated items when storage exceeds the 5-day free period.
